What's Working: Brick 4 Kidz trains future science, math engineers

BRISTOL, TN (WJHL) - Ryan Bunning is proud of his creation. "When it's sitting there, the propellers don't' hit the ground," said Bunning. 

It's all thanks to a new program in the Tri-cities called "Bricks 4 Kidz".  

"It's an education based program and we use lego bricks to introduce STEM concepts. Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math,"  said Corey Smith co-owner of the franchise. 

Smith Co-Owns the franchise, what makes it Bricks 4 Kidz unique is the fact it's completely mobile. They operate programs at different locations throughout the Tri-Cities. "We just have a rolling cart so we can go anywhere."

Nearly 200 young people ages 3 to 12 have taken part in the summer programs with even more taking advantage of in school and after school programs. "Children are very hands on. They want to assemble and disassemble and put things together. So it's perfect to help them grow."

On this day, it's a summer session at Sullins Academy, in Bristol, Virginia featuring the flight of  Angry Birds.

The campers find the pieces. They follow directions. And the best part, the get to watch their creations come to life. 

And for the youngsters like Ryan Bunning, they're learning lessons that will last a lifetime.
