Maintenance worker killed in country club rollover accident

Posted: Updated:

A maintenance worker was killed Monday at the Smoke Rise Country Club in Stone Mountain when the tractor he was riding rolled on top of him, according to DeKalb County emergency personnel.

From Chopper46, the tractor could be seen on its side near the base of a slight incline on what appears to be a golf course.

Authorities said no one witnessed the incident and are not sure how long the man, who was in his 20s, was trapped before 911 was called.

Investigators have not released the name of the man who died, but said his parents were on the scene as authorities investigated.

DeKalb Fire Capt. Eric Jackson told CBS46's Daniel Wilkerson fellow country club employees discovered the accident and tried to free the man, but were unsuccessful.

The workers then used another tractor to lift the equipment which the man was trapped under. They then lowered the tractor back on its side to preserve the evidence.  They called 911 and DeKalb Fire & EMS responded to the incident.

"Once we arrived on scene, there was nothing the fire department could do," said Jackson.
