TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A SWAT team responded to the area of Campbell and Irvington because of a report of a barricaded man.

The woman who called police on Tuesday afternoon said she was held captive by her ex-boyfriend after he kidnapped her near St. Mary's hospital on Monday night about 8:30 pm.

The woman said Gilbert Cota held her captive overnight. She managed to escape at 11:30 a.m. and Tucson Police found he had a felony warrant from Sahuarita for domestic violence. He didn't respond when police knocked on his door but hostage negotiators managed to get him to respond and even come to the door. He was alone inside at that time, then a medical emergency led SWAT to move in to the apartment.

Cota now faces domestic violence kidnapping on top of his charges from Sahaurita.
