ATLANTA (CBS46) -

Dust off your old pots and pans and head to the Floataway Community. The former industrial area, now transformed into a creative office complex, is hosting a Kitchen Kit Drive Saturday to benefit a local charity.

The community is asking residents to bring used pots and pans, utensils, serving ware, skillets, bowls and plates. The kitchen kits will benefit the Furniture Bank of Metro Atlanta, a nonprofit organization that provides essential household furnishings to previously homeless families, individuals with HIV/AIDS and victims of domestic violence. The organization's "Kitchen Kit Program" aims to provide underprivileged families with a means of cooking healthy and cost-effective meals.

From 1 - 3 p.m., participants will enjoy complimentary bites, beer and crafts.

The charity event will be featured Thursday on Better Mornings Atlanta. Click here for details on the kitchen kit drive.

Floataway also is raising funds for its Nickel Bottom Community Garden, a former industrial site along the South Fork of Peachtree Creek that nearby residents recently restored to its original lush. They hope to turn it into a space where families can learn about and experience the rewards of sustainable gardening, participate in local community gatherings for education and celebration and enjoy a serene environment.
