ATLANTA (CBS46) -

An 18-year-old Marietta woman out on a bike ride with her family said she was attacked by a man who fired a stun gun at her.

CBS46 News is only identifying the victim by her first name, Amber, because she asked that we protect her identity. CBS46's Mike Paluska spoke to Amber over the phone. She described what happened just before 10 a.m. Tuesday morning on the Iron Hill Trail at Red Top Mountain State Park in Bartow County.

"I was trying to lap my parents so I was by myself," Amber said. "There is a tree that was laying down on the left side, and I saw a little yellow square, and in my experience in the past I know that to be a stun gun cartridge. And, as soon as I looked at it, it deployed. The probes came across. One of the wires hit my face and I was able to pull it off."

Amber said the man was wearing a green baseball cap and was in his mid 40s.

After the attack she rode faster down the trail until she ran into other bicyclists who called 911.

"I definitely won't be riding by myself again," Amber said. "Definitely with two or three other people. I honestly am concerned about all the other girls out there."

Amber said she carries a knife with her when she goes out on the trail and takes classes for martial arts, but said if the stun gun would have hit her, she would have been defenseless.

"I wouldn't have had time to react to fight back, even with my knife or training," Amber said.

Police said the man ran into the woods towards Red Top Estates.

Bartow County Sheriff's Deputies are asking anyone with information in the case to give them a call at 770-382-5050.

Just last week, a Tina Waddell was attacked on the Silver Comet Trail in Paulding County.
