DULUTH, GA (CBS46) -

A Gwinnett County restaurant recently opened for business and is already off to a rough start.

Cotton & Corn Kitchen Bar at 6590 Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth failed with 57-points and a "U" for unsatisfactory. There was no certified food safety manager during the inspection. Plus, a cooler was not working properly so pork, pasta and chicken salad were at unsafe temperatures.

"Most of it is paperwork and yes we are getting it all fixed," Cotton & Corn's General Manager said.

"Is it safe to eat at the restaurant?" CBS46's Adam Murphy asked.

"It is. Like I said before it's not the food. It's paperwork we did not have and it is corrected," Cotton & Corn's General Manager said.

"Well it is the food if you have a cooler that's not cooling properly," Murphy said.

To prove that the food is now being stored properly, management took CBS46 into the kitchen to show us that the cooler is holding below the required 41-degrees.

"My cooler reads 40 degrees every day. I check my coolers every day and every night when I come in," Cotton & Corn's Chef said.

The chef also pointed out that she is ServSafe certified and was brought onboard a couple of days ago to correct the problems.

CBS46 noticed that management had posted the wrong health inspection score for the public to see. A score of 100 was posted instead of 57.

"Don't you believe that's misleading to customers?" Murphy asked.

"We're not trying to mislead the customer," Cotton & Corn's Chef said.

Cotton & Corn Kitchen Bar is now waiting on a re-inspection.

There are some good scores to tell you about in metro Atlanta. In Gwinnett County, Jason's Deli at 5131 Peachtree Parkway in Peachtree Corners received 96-points and an "A." In DeKalb County, Dave's Cosmic Subs at 1540 North Decatur Road in Atlanta picked up 99-points and in Cobb County, J. Christopher's at 2100 Roswell Road in Marietta scored a perfect 100.

Our featured restaurant of the week is Kirkyard Public House in Atlanta's Kirkwood community. They received a perfect health score and everything on their menu is under $13. Plus, they're known for their local craft on draft.
