Bristol (WJHL) -

Quaker Steak and Lube is getting ready to turn a street in Bristol into a dream water slide for a few lucky people.

At a press conference Tuesday morning, the restaurant announced that for one day, Saturday, Solar Street will transform into a 500-foot water slide, which they call “Cumberplunge.” The event will be held from noon until 4 p.m.

"We embrace any event that builds upon the excitement and synergy we have going on downtown," JJ Gillenwater, co-owner of the Bristol eatery said. "This idea is just over the top and we can't wait to present this slippery parade."

The slide will reportedly start at the corner of Solar Street and Cumberland and will run down Cumberland Street and end on Piedmont.

400 people will receive a golden ticket to ride the slide and they are encouraging those who do to dress as outlandishly as possible. Of the 400 participants, 300 will be selected by a random draw, with a committee choosing the last 100 applications based on creativity and crowd appeal, Gillenwater said.

"We appreciate Quaker Steak & Lube taking the lead on this event, and think that it will certainly provide yet another reason for visitors to be excited about coming to Bristol," Bristol, Va. Mayor Catherine Brillhart said.

Participants must be 12 years of age or older to ride on the Cumberplunge and anyone under 16 years old must have a signed parental or guardian consent to ride the slide.

The event is free and open to the public and festivities will continue with food and games for all ages and live music downtown until midnight at Quaker Steak & Lube.

A similar event held in another Bristol – Bristol, England – drew nearly 60,000 spectators.
