Restaurant Report Card: Montie's 59 'U,' Truva Turkish Kitchen 100 'A'

Posted: Updated:

A metro Atlanta restaurant is in some hot water this week with the health department.

Montie's Public House at 1860 Corporate Blvd. in DeKalb County failed with 59 points and a "U." There was heavy, black, mold-like build-up on drink machine nozzles. Plus, sausage, salmon and tilapia were at unsafe temperatures and there was expired buttermilk in the kitchen.

"Were they serving expired buttermilk in anything?" CBS46's Adam Murphy asked.

"No we were not," a bartender said.

"What about the food at the wrong temperatures?" Murphy asked.

"That's not an issue," the bartender responded.

"Have you guys cleaned the drink nozzles?" Murphy asked.

"Yes, we've cleaned the drink nozzles," the bartender said.

During our visit to the restaurant, we learned there was no manager on site to answer our questions, only the bartender.

The DeKalb County Health Department re-inspected Montie's on August 12 and they received 72 points and a "C."

Now to some good scores, in Cobb County, Carla's Famous Fish at 302 Veterans Memorial Highway in Mableton scored 92 points and an "A," In Paulding County, Buffalo Wild Wings at 5000 Jimmy Lee Smith Parkway in Hiram scored a 94 and in Gwinnett County, Firehouse Subs at 3465 Braselton Highway in Dacula picked up a 96.

Our featured restaurant of the week is Truva Turkish Kitchen at 60 Andrew Young International Boulevard in Downtown Atlanta. They're one of several restaurants participating in Downtown Atlanta Restaurant Week and they received a perfect health score. Plus, every night you can enjoy live entertainment featuring belly dancers like Karma Karmelita.

Located in the same building as Truva is Cuts Steakhouse and they also scored an "A" on their health inspection.
