ATLANTA (CBS46) -

An early morning call for a house fire lead to an Amber Alert for two missing children.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office said firefighters were called to a house fire on the 1000 block of Abercorn Way in Douglasville at about 5:30 a.m. Sunday. The fire is still under investigation.

When they arrived, they learned Peyton Foster, 3, and her brother Cyrus Foster, 1, were missing. An Amber Alert and a Levi's Call were issued for the two.

Deputies say the children's father, Born Uallah Foster, 36, is suspected of taking the children. He also allegedly stole his ex-wife's car, which police were looking for in the Amber Alert.

At about 12:30, MARTA police spotted a vehicle matching the description of the one Foster reportedly stole. MARTA officers stopped the car at the intersection of Martin Luther King Drive and Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard. Foster then tried to run away, but was quickly captured.

Both the children were found safe and unharmed in the car.

Foster was arrested on several charges including two counts of aggravated assault, motor vehicle theft.

The children have been reunited with their mother.
