Family of woman found burned in Gwinnett Park search for answers

Posted: Updated:

It has been nearly a week since Lauren Taylor's body was found burned in a Gwinnett County Park.

Now, her twin sister Brittney wants to know who did it.

"It is very important. It is the most important," Brittney Taylor said. "It would give me closure to know who did it, or to know why they did it. The angry part of me wants to look them in their face. I want to know what kind of person can put their hands around her and do the things they did to her. I want to know why."

A Gwinnett County couple walking in DeShong Park in Stone Mountain made the grisly discovery Wednesday morning.

Lauren Taylor was found on a sidewalk near a pavilion.

"It is freaking me out," said Lorien Dunning, who lives in the area. "I was telling my husband it seems like someone is trying to make a statement or something. It is personal because they could have hid the body but they have it in the open like that. It is scary," Dunning said.

Gwinnett County Police would not comment on any updates in their case Monday afternoon.

Brittney Taylor said her mother is in constant contact with detectives working the case and are following up on leads. She wants to remember her sister for the wonderful person she was, not how she died.

"She is an amazing person, she was an amazing person it is hard talking about her in past tense," Brittney Taylor said. "She has a beautiful voice. We will remember her for her voice and her joking, she is a beautiful person. She is real sassy, that is what we are going to remember her for. I am going to miss every single part of her."
