CBS46 is keeping you safe during storms with the CBS46 Chevy Weather Lab. This state-of-the-art 2015 Chevy Suburban is equipped with advanced mobile weather tools that allow us to track severe weather in your neighborhood.
Inside the Lab
The CBS46 Chevy Weather Lab can receive Doppler radar, satellite and temperature data on the go as we travel through your neighborhood.
This weather data is transmitted directly into the Chevy Suburban using a Sirius receiver that is attached to the top of the van.
The CBS46 Chevy Weather Lab is equipped with five cameras to give you a variety of angles when tracking storms.
The lab comes with a roof cam, windshield cam, tailgate cam, side cam and a camera inside the lab so we can talk to you during storms.
How do we get the lab on TV?
The CBS46 Chevy Weather Lab comes with two separate transmitters to make sure we can go live on television the moment bad weather strikes.
The lab includes a traditional microwave transmitter that sends the signal from the lab back to the CBS46 studio in Midtown Atlanta.
In addition, the lab also includes new technology that allows us to send you our signal in hard-to-reach places using cell phone towers.
