Cold air lingers in Atlanta

Rather cloudy skies earlier Tuesday kept cold air locked in across the state.

Although temperatures did get above freezing in most areas that were hit hard with fallen trees and power outages, it didn't get too far above freezing. Therefore, slow ice melt from earlier in the day will re-freeze Tuesday evening, leading to additional black ice concerns.

Meanwhile, an arctic cold front will approach the state Wednesday. Snow showers with the front will likely remain north of the metro, but some northern tier counties can pick up a quick covering of snow, making it slippery for a time.

Cold, gusty winds will produce feels-like temperatures in the 20s Wednesday, followed by sub-zero feels-like temperatures Thursday morning. Record low temperatures in the teens are also in jeopardy.

If all this wasn't enough, another storm will approach Friday evening. A combination of precipitation may overspread parts of north Georgia with slippery travel before temperatures warm above freezing Saturday morning

All in all, this storm won't have nearly as much precipitation as its predecessor, but can still be a major travel headache.
