ATLANTA (CBS46) - Police said a man was shot and killed outside of Beltline Kroger on Tuesday.

At around 2 p.m., the victim spotted someone trying to break into his vehicle. When he tried to confront the suspect, he was shot and killed, according to Atlanta Police Sgt. Greg Lyon.

Police released surveillance video in hopes someone can identify several people climbing out of a black BMW in the Kroger parking lot.

People who might be able to provide any information can anonymously call the Crime Stoppers Atlanta tip line at 404-577-8477.

The store at 725 Ponce de Leon Avenue NE opened in 1984.

Homicides took place in the parking lot in 1991 and 2002, giving the grocery store at that location to be known as Murder Kroger.

In 2014, Kroger campaigned for Beltline Kroger to catch on. However, Atlanta BeltLine had no part in the campaign.
