Man wounded in FedEx shooting still experiencing complications

Christopher Sparkman, the man severely injured in a shooting at FedEx in 2014, is still experiencing complications.

In a blog post on Sunday, Christopher's wife, Jamie Lynn Sparkman, posted the "painful" update.

"We had been so hopeful that the very last surgery that took place on February 16, 2015 would be his last. Unfortunately, we are heartbroken to still be dealing with another fistula or two in his belly as a complication from the frequent surgeries and the complexities of his many medical procedures," wrote Jamie Lynn Sparkman.

She said that leakages in Chris Sparkman's abdomen have not stopped and once the surgeons are able to maintain control of the leaking he will no longer need to go to the OR for wash outs every 48 hours, which he has done since his last surgery.

"If this can be achieved, we hope to be be returning home for 'bowel rest' with some of the same woundcare, dressings and daily care that we came in with and hoped to reverse," said the blog post.

She praised the surgeons and nurses at WellStar thanked those who have supported them.
