Police arrest alleged serial robber

Posted: Updated:

Police arrested a man they say was responsible for robbing at least four pharmacies in the metro Atlanta area.

Covington police said after the story ran on CBS46 Friday night, they received a tip from someone that helped them find and arrest Christopher Westmoreland.

Thursday, police said Westmoreland hit two places in two different counties.

Police released surveillance video from a Walgreens in Covington that helped lead to suspect's capture. They said Westmoreland drove up to the store. Once inside, he stood patiently in line behind a lady making a purchase. After she paid and walked away, he made his move. He handed the cashier a note and held a bible case, suggesting that it contained a gun.

“Very calm demeanor. Didn't get very agitated, didn't get very animated," Cpt. Ken Malcom said. "He just handed the note, conversed with the clerk for a very short period of time, then took the money and then left.”

Police believe Westmoreland robbed at least four pharmacies since January, including two stores in DeKalb County.
