Emergent Savannah hosts meeting to discuss Palmetto Pipeline

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Local residents gathered on Monday night at the Sentient Bean Coffee Shop to discuss the proposed Palmetto Pipeline project.

Emergent Savannah set up the conversation model to encourage a diverse group of people to discuss different sides of issues related to the proposed project. The group said they are against the pipeline, but want to hear how others feel about the proposal.

“What we are hoping people do is to come out against the pipeline,” said organizer Courtnay Papy. “We don't necessarily think it is going to be a beneficial thing for Georgia and for South Carolina, so tonight we are asking people to share their thoughts, and then share their action with the larger community."

The final Georgia Department of Transportation public hearing to determine if Kinder Morgan will be granted the power of eminent domain will be held on Thursday at the Waynesboro Campus of Augusta Technical College.
