COLUMBUS, OH (CBS46) - A player for the Gwinnett Braves, accused of raping and kidnapping a woman while on a team road trip, will see his case go to trial.

Elmer Reyes, 24, has been charged with kidnapping and rape after being accused of the incident, which allegedly took place at a Columbus hotel.

Reyes is an infielder for the Braves.

Reyes met the woman and her friend after a game between the Columbus Clippers and agreed to go to a bar.

Reyes paid for a hotel room for the women after they had been drinking because he didn't want them to drive home.

According to police, the victim says Reyes pinned her down and forced her to have intercourse.

The woman called 911 to report the incident.

The Gwinnett Braves have released a statement regarding the situation. "We were very concerned to learn of the arrest of Elmer Reyes in Franklin County on Saturday (May 23) morning.  We will withhold further comment until we learn additional details and have all of the facts."

Reyes has been placed on the Restricted List by the Gwinnett Braves organization.
