Police find body of man wanted for killing his wife

HIRAM, GA (CBS46) - Police believe they found the body of a man who was wanted for allegedly killing his wife.

Rockwell Sarrabo, 41, was accused of shooting his wife to death at a home in the 200 block of Baywood Way in Hiram Wednesday afternoon.

The shooting forced Hiram High School to go on lockdown for a short time.

Sarrabo then allegedly called his girlfriend and told her what he had done.

The incident started around 1:40 p.m. after a woman, believed to be Sarrabo's girlfriend, contacted Paulding County 911 and told them her boyfriend had just killed his wife and was going to kill himself.

When officers arrived at the home, they entered and found 44-year-old Nicole Thomas dead from a gunshot wound to the head.

The girlfriend told dispatchers that Sarrabo was headed to Sandtown Park in Fulton County, which is where police spent much of Wednesday afternoon searching for Sarrabo.

Investigators are awaiting an autopsy Thursday to confirm the identity of a body found in the woods, but they believe it is that of Sarrabo.

"We're pretty confident that's who we found in the wooded area," said Corporal Ashley Henson with the Paulding County Sheriff's Office.

"It's scary because it's so close," said Peggy Woodard, who lives a few doors down from the crime scene.
