Man caught on camera stealing beer, attempts to stab store clerks

Posted: Updated:

Police are looking for a suspect who is allegedly stealing beer from multiple gas stations in Atlanta.

Police say the man has hit the same Chevron and Shell gas station locations three times each in the past month.

Surveillance camera footage shows the man walking out of the Chevron gas station on Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard with cases of beer. When two store clerks confront the man, he charges at them with a screw driver.

Raj Kumar owns the Chevron gas station. He says he has never seen something like this before.

"I worked in this area almost 40 years, this is the first time it happened in my store," says Kumar. "This guy is aggressive. I've never seen this happen over here. Plus we have a lot of students come over here. I worry about their security too."

Kumar says the same man has hit the store two other times in the past month.

"I tell police he's going to comeback and what happens? He comes back again," says Kumar.

A clerk at a Shell gas station two blocks away says they've been attacked three times in the past month as well. When the man showed up a second time, the clerks saw him and locked the door. That didn't stop him as he shattered the glass and came in.

On June 13, the clerks saw the man coming and fought back. They chased him out of the store and he left in a white Cadillac Escalade.

If you have any information on the suspect, you're urged to call Atlanta Police at (404) 799-2487.
