ATLANTA (CBS46) -

After Friday's Supreme Court decision legalizing same-sex marriage, 101 couples are simultaneously exercising their new found right to marry in Georgia.

The event was held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Atlanta and was hosted by celebrity chef Art Smith.

Many other celebrities attended the event, including Major League Baseball ambassador Billy Bean, Madonna's DJ Tracy Young, celebrity wedding planner Debi Lilly, party planner Tony Conway and food personality Chadwick Boyd.

Many here already took vows in other states, but the rule changes are adding new permanence to old commitments. David Haskins and Victor Bolet were one couple overjoyed at having a chance to be recognized as legally married.

"It just means so much to me to have this day that no one will ever take away from me," said Haskins. "That's what it's all about, respecting everyone."

His long-time partner, Victor Bolet says he can't believe this day has come.

"I am just flabbergasted. I can't believe after twenty-two years, we finally made it happen," said Bolet. "We're so much in love. we're so happy and we have our families here. It's just fantastic."

Georgia's history goes back nearly 300 years as one of the original thirteen colonies. And now these couples are celebrating the first weekend in all that time that a marriage ceremony like this one could ever happen.
