CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

Protesters again gathered outside the Wellsley Subdivision in Cherokee County as they try to fight against a funeral home and crematory being built across from their neighborhood.

The funeral home and crematory is being built by Cherokee County Commissioner Brian Poole.

"We are really worried about the health concerns and what that is going to do," neighbor Kelly Covington said. "And we are really concerned about the property values."

Commissioner Poole was invited to attend a community meeting so people could ask him questions. Under advice from his attorney, he told the Homeowner's Association president he wasn't going to come. This did not sit well with the people that showed up ready to fire off questions.

"It's probably hard for him hear us voice our opinions but it would be nice if he were here so we could ask him questions," neighbor Michele Doss said.

"I'm angry," Covington said. "I'm disappointed. I wish he could be here to answer our questions."

CBS46 spoke with Poole's attorney, Nate Cochran. Speaking on behalf of his client, Cochran said a future meeting is not out of the question. Cochran also stressed Poole has done everything within the law as far as meeting zoning and financing requirements to build in this commercially zoned area.
