DeKalb CEO 'absolutely not' concerned about criminal investigation

Posted: Updated:

DeKalb County Interim CEO Lee May addressed the corruption report written by former Georgia Attorney General Mike Bowers on the Ryan Cameron Morning Show on WVEE Thursday.

The DeKalb corruption report, which was commissioned by May, alleges he violated the public's trust and called for the interim DeKalb County CEO to resign.

"Even if everything in this report is correct, which it is absolutely not, that still doesn't reflect a county that is rotten to the core," said May. "It looks like typical government that has challenges we have to fix."

May said in the interview he believes the findings were ' all about money."  He said things went south when he asked the independent investigators for a report after the 120 day time limit.

"I think the tenor of this report has to do that after 120 days, I told them we were closing up, finishing the report because an executive order called for 120 days," said May.

The corruption report also made mention of a $4,000 loan from an employee.

"It is not my signature. I never received a check. I never signed one, cashed it, or even received anything from that," said May.
