ATLANTA (CBS46) -

After a week filled with rain, additional heavy rain is expected in north Georgia this weekend.

Scattered rain is expected to continue Friday, Saturday and Sunday in north Georgia and metro Atlanta, with rain eventually moving out Sunday.

Flash flood watch

A flash flood watch has been issued for east Georgia where more than three inches of rain is possible this weekend. The flash flood watch does not include Atlanta, but does include Athens. If you plan on attending the University of Georgia football game, remember that you could be impacted by rain.

Why so much rain?

Two separate storm systems will impact north Georgia this weekend. An area of low pressure will continue to produce rain in north Georgia. In addition, moisture from Hurricane Joaquin will enhance the rain that's already expected.

Will Joaquin impact north Georgia and Atlanta?

Hurricane Joaquin is not expected to directly impact Atlanta or north Georgia. However, moisture from the hurricane will enhance the rain that's already expected from a separate system.
