Coldest temps of the season this weekend in Atlanta

The coldest temperatures of the season are expected in Atlanta this weekend.

Freeze warning

A freeze warning is in effect north of Atlanta through 9 a.m. The warning includes the north Georgia mountains, Ellijay, Rome, Canton and Dawsonville. 

If you're under the freeze warning, temperatures are expected to be at or near freezing, which is 32 degrees. While everyone in the warning won't actually see a freeze, take precautions by bringing in your pets and sensitive plants.

Frost advisory 

A frost advisory is in effect for metro Atlanta through 9 a.m. where frost will be possible. 

30s are back

Temperatures will drop into the 30s both Saturday and Sunday mornings in Atlanta. It will be the first time Atlanta will see 30s in more than seven months. The last time Atlanta was in the 30s was on March 29 when the low was 31 degrees.

Behind schedule

The 30s typically start in Atlanta on Oct. 27, according to Adam Baker with the National Weather Service, which will put this year more than two weeks behind schedule. 

The earliest the temperatures has ever dropped into the 30s in Atlanta was Sept. 29 in 1967, while the latest was Nov. 23 in 1994.
