Buses re-routed after shooting at metro Atlanta transit station

Buses had to be re-routed Tuesday afternoon after a shooting at a MARTA transit station in metro Atlanta.

The shooting occurred at the College Park transit station, which is just north of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

A MARTA spokesperson said a fight between two people escalated into a shooting around 1:50 p.m. A suspect was taken into custody. 21 year-old Sherodrick Cheeley faces charges of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during a crime.

The victim, who has yet to be identified, was alert and taken to a hospital.

MARTA passengers waited to be redirected while police investigated the shooting.
