SMYRNA, GA (CBS46) -

In an address to the nation Sunday, President Barack Obama called for more gun control in light of California's terrorism-related mass shooting.

Meanwhile, two iconic gun manufacturers are seeing their stocks soar. Shares of Smith & Wesson have surged 116 percent this year, while Sturm, Ruger's stock has climbed 66 percent this year.

There is no official tally of how many guns are sold in the U.S., but the FBI is on track this year to process a record number of background checks. In Georgia, background checks were up from 2013 to 2014.

Eric Wallace, owner of popular gun store Adventure Outdoors in Smyrna, said business is booming.

"On Black Friday, we saw a 25 percent increase in sales. It was really about all the business we could handle that day," Wallace said. "The Saturday following Black Friday, we had a 40 percent increase."
