State of emergency expanded

Gov. Nathan Deal has expended a state of emergency to include Gordon, Towns and Troup counties, in addition to the original state of emergency that already included Fannin, Gilmer and Pickens counties due to flooding rains.

Flood watch

A flood watch is in effect for all of metro Atlanta until Friday evening due to heavy rain rolling through the state. A flood watch means that additional flood and flash flood warnings are possible.

River flood warnings will continue for the next few days until all the rain ends by Thursday morning. Be ready to move to higher ground once the rivers begin to crest.
