Work crews patch potholes, sinkholes caused by flooding

HENRY COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

Last week's flooding continues to create problems, especially for drivers in the form of potholes.

In Henry County, work crews have spent much of the new year patching potholes and sinkholes left behind from several days of hard rain. Creeks and streams overflowed their banks, spilling onto parking lots, roads and private property.

Four roads in Henry County and several in Gordon County still remain closed.

“On our high-traffic roadways, we’re seeing tons because of potholes pop up because of all the water,' said Wade Stroud, Interim Director of Henry County Road Department.

Some tow truck drivers in Atlanta told CBS46 they're also busy these days due to road damage.

“That’s probably 85% of our calls is pothole damage. Anywhere from ripping a bumper off to sidewall damage," said Patrick Smith of DaCosta Towing.
