ATLANTA (CBS46) -

People from neighborhoods surrounding Turner Field made their voices heard today at a rally in front of the ball field gates. They want their voices to be heard by the Atlanta Fulton County Recreation Authority (AFCRA). That board is the one selling Turner Field for redevelopment.

Durand Bailey lives close to Turner Field. He explains what this group wants.

"To let our voices be heard and let people know we do have plans and that we want to be involved in the planning of the future of this community," Bailey said.

The AFCRA is near to closing a deal with Georgia State University and Carter Development. But the Turner Field Community Benefits Coalition, which is made up of people from the neighborhoods, wants some specific rights in any deal to sell turner field.

"There are a lot of things we put in the CBA infrastructure, health benefits, those type of things are necessary for a community to strive," neighbor Jane Ridley said. "If you look around there is none of that in our neighborhood."

A spokesperson for the Atlanta Fulton County Recreational Authority says they want the community involved. He says the authority requires the buyer to have strong community engagement.

People living here just hopes that happens.

"Personally I embrace ideas from outside the community," Bailey said. "I would appreciate if people outside the community embraced our ideas as well."

The ARCRA hopes to have a final sale agreement in place to announce with Georgia State University and Carter Development in the next week or two.
