FULTON COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

Police closed off four square blocks of downtown Atlanta after reports of a suspicious package found near city hall, Sunday afternoon.

The bomb squad was called in to take a look at suitcases and bags found underneath cars on the top level of a parking deck behind Trinity Methodist Church.

An off-duty police officer on routine patrol found the first two items, and as the bomb squad investigated further, they found two more in the area.

A remote control robot did X-rays on the packages and determined there were no explosives inside.

Police suspect a homeless person may have been storing items under the cars.

In all, the incident kept the streets around city hall closed for about six hours.
