ATLANTA (CBS46) -

The sit-in simulator at the National Center for Civil and Human rights gives visitors a chance to experience a portion of the civil rights movement.

“They were met with violence and so you would have those peacefully protesting for their right to sit at these lunch counters, you would see them get attacked,” said Nicole Moore with the National Center for Civil and Human rights.

The exhibit walks visitors through pivotal events from 1954 to 1968. Within the first few displays, they’re introduced to a segregated Atlanta during the Jim Crow era.

Ultimately, the museum gives generations a platform to rediscover and honor the struggle.
