ATLANTA (CBS46) -

One day after consumer investigative reporter Harry Samler reported a story about an Edgewood woman was double billed for garbage, viewers are calling in demanding that the overpayment be returned.

For ten years, April Lloyd paid the city of Atlanta over 700 dollars annually for garbage pick up.  The bill eventually went over 800 dollars.  Lloyd admits, she never paid too much attention to the bill because her mortgage company paid it out of her escrow account.

One day, Lloyd was comparing tax bills with her neighbors.  When they started discussing the annual trash bill, Lloyd discovered that all of her neighbors were paying half as much as she was.

The mayor's office confirmed the error, but said that city policy only allows for reimbursements up to three years.  Mayor Kasim Reed's spokesperson Jenna Garland also claims that the CBS46 report that originally aired on Wednesday was inaccurate.

Dozens of viewers responded to the report.  The overwhelming majority of emails and phone calls were in favor of returning the nearly $4000 the City of Atlanta had collected over a 10 year period.
