School teacher reprimands JCPenny over 2 dollar online dishwasher sale

TYRONE, GA (CBS46) -

Debra Osborne got a phone call, "Hey! JCPenny is selling dishwashers for 2 dollars!"  Osborne thought it had to be a mistake, until she called the customer service line.

"They said the offer was showing two dollars."

Osborne ordered two GE Profile dishwashers.  With her coupon and free delivery her total bill was $3.20.  The elementary school teacher in Tyrone, Georgia was still convinced that it was an error.  Osborne made two more calls to JCPenny's customer service line.

"They said it was two dollars and one person even said I may order one on my break."

Osborne ordered a total of 5 dishwashers, but she never got them.  A JCPenny spokesperson sent CBS46 the following statement.

We apologize for any misunderstanding she may have encountered. JCPenney is piloting appliances in three markets only and is not yet widely available for purchase on jcp.com. We are currently testing and preparing our site for national expansion, which is why we experienced technical difficulty by posting an incorrect price. In these instances when a pricing error occurs, the Company may cancel the order and notify the customer via email that the item is no longer available.

Mrs. Osborne is not accepting the apology or the 50 dollar gift certificate JCPenny offered in lieu of the dishwashers.  Instead, Mrs.Osborne is teaching her class about the importance of keeping your word.
