ATLANTA (CBS46) -

Two Atlanta police patrol cars crashed into one another Thursday. The incident occurred along Spring Street and North Avenue.

Police say one officer was hurt and the department is investigating.

CBS46 found out this isn’t the first time police officers have responded to a crash between other officers. There have been at least 118 Atlanta police car wrecks in the last 10 months.

Some drivers think the issue is visibility because the cars are too dark.

“If the police cars were silver, they would be more visible to the public,” said one driver.

Mark Pettit said he offered to re-design the cruisers for free.

“The problem is people often can't see the cars because they blend into the landscape. If they were white and bright, people would see the cars more often,” said Petti

Gwinnett County patrol cars are all white.

CBS46 found hey’ve had almost 150 accidents with their cars since last July.

Atlanta police said their patrol cars are in service 24/7 and although officers practice avoidance, accidents happen.
