ATLANTA (CBS46) -

Thousands cancer survivors and doctors gathered to find out more about the national fight against cancer.

The roundtable conversations, dubbed the Moonshot summit are part of Vice President Joe Biden's push to find a cure.

More than 250 conventions were held around the country but Emory’s Winship Cancer Institute was one of ten cancer centers chosen to report back to the second in command.

“We’re really becoming a world center for biomedical research and especially cancer research,” said executive director Dr. Wally Curran.

The summit touched on topics from progressive treatment to better education.

Doctors said the hope is to kill the lethal disease by uniting across medical fields.
