Customers, employees stuck without A/C at Waffle House

Posted: Updated:

Loyal Waffle House customers were served more than just an All Star breakfast Friday. They said the Buford restaurant, located at 1570 Buford Hwy, hasn’t had air conditioning in days.

“92, 93 degrees inside. Of course, I come today hoping to get out of the heat and then air conditioning is off,” said one customer.

Customers and employees have been fighting to stay cool with two fans in the front of the restaurant.

Some of them worry that won’t be enough.

“It could be dangerous to make you have heat stroke or something like that,” said Kenneth Shope, a regular at the restaurant.

Shortly after CBS46 crews arrived at the restaurant, a repair man pulled up and began working on the roof.

CBS46 also reached out to Waffle House about the A/C issues.

Here was a spokesperson’s response:

“One of the four air conditioning units has had difficulty keeping up with the recent hot weather.  The other three units are working properly. We have been working on the one unit since Wednesday. Our Area Vice President, Division Manager and maintenance team have been on the roof over the past three days trying to correct the problem.  We will continue to work until it is working properly.  We apologize to our Customers and associates for the inconvenience and thank them for their patience during this time.  “

No word yet on when, the repairs will be completed. Stick with CBS46 for the latest updates.
