A 28-year-old woman is in critical condition following an attack on the side of the road.

Police say Monday morning she has car trouble on Lees Mill Road near Bob White Trail in Forest Park. CBS46 talked with employees who work nearby and found one man who reported he thinks he saw the woman’s attacker.

Bill Miller recounted around 8:45 a.m. Monday, he saw a car sitting on the side of the road not far from the entrance of his workplace. That car was still there about 15 minutes later when he drove by again.

“When I came back through, there was another car sitting there and I just thought that he was helping her,” Miller recalled.

He didn’t know the woman was attacked until CBS46 stopped at his business and told the employees what happened.

“I just figured well she got help, whoever it was, and i didn’t really realize what was going on until just a little bit ago."

CBS46 connected Miller with police. Investigators tell us they are still not sure what exactly happened but they know the 28-year-old victim suffered blunt force trauma to the back of the head.

The road where the attack happened runs right alongside I-75 so investigators are hoping more witnesses will come forward. Again if you may have seen anything, Clayton County police want to hear from you.

Anyone who may recall observing any suspicious activity or may have witnessed a red or maroon in color sedan type vehicle in the area of Lees Mill Road near Bob White Trail between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. is asked to contact the Clayton County Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Unit at (770) 473-3931 or (770) 477-3661.
