The Kennesaw State Owls will open the 2016 season as they host the East Tennessee State Buccaneers at Fifth Third Bank Stadium on Saturday.

The Owls finished their inaugural season in FBS at 6-5 overall and lost just one home game overall.

The Owls started strong last season, opening with victories in five of their first six games before going on to lose four of the final five.

These teams opened up against each other last year in Johnson City, Tennessee. ETSU had a 13-7 lead midway through the second quarter before the Owls scored 49 points in a row, en route to a 56-16 win.

The Buccaneers would lose their first seven games before beating Warner at home in Week 8. ETSU ended the 2015 season at 2-9. It was a tough year for the Bucs as they were outscored by an average 37-16 per game.

The Owls hope to improve on last year's finish as leading passer and rusher Trey White returns at the quarterback position. The Owls also return nearly all of their running backs and wide receivers and will potentially have one of the best offenses in the Big South conference.

The Owls will also have a formidable defense as the team returns their leading pass intercepter and pass rusher.

Saturday's game kicks off at 7 p.m.
