The Georgia Bulldogs and North Carolina Tarheels will start the 2016 season strong as they'll match-up at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta on Saturday.

The Bulldogs enter the game ranked 18 in the AP poll while the Heels are ranked 22. Although the Dawgs won 10 games on the year, it was still not enough for coach Mark Richt to keep his job. He was let go in favor of former Alabama Defensive Coordinator Kirby Smart, who will begin his head coaching career in Athens.

Richt was hired by the University of Miami just weeks after being let go.

The Bulldogs are led by quarterback Greyson Lambert, who was named the team's starter on Thursday. Lambert finished last season with nearly 2,000 yards passing with 12 touchdowns and just 2 interceptions. There was speculation that freshman sensation Jacob Eason would get the nod but Lambert has since been named starter.

One problem the Dawgs won't have is running the football. Nick Chubb returns from injury and Sony Michel has also been cleared to play after breaking his arm. Georgia also welcomes in freshman highly-touted running back Elijah Holyfield, son of former heavyweight boxing champ Evander Holyfield.

The Bulldogs will have to replace seasoned wide out Malcolm Mitchell, who takes his nearly 900 receiving yards and five touchdowns from 2015 with him.

The Dawg defense has a few holes to fill but should have outstanding play from the linebacking corps and will also be boosted by the return of Dominick Sanders, who finished tied for sixth in the NCAA last year with 6 interceptions.

The game will kick off at 5:30 p.m.
