An American flag flew at half staff Sunday afternoon outside Georgia's National Guard Headquarters.  But inside, military members and their families get a first look at CBS's new series MacGyver. The showing offered emotional relief on the somber 15th anniversary of 9/11.

"I loved it," one young boy who lived on the base said.

The series is a comeback of sorts. MacGyver originally aired on ABC in the late 80s and early 90s.

The audience liked what it saw.

"It's just a little more modern. I like them both but I like this one for sure," one military member said.

CBS46's Sharon Reed hosted a Q&A session with the show's four main actors.

The visit for the show's star actor was a homecoming.

"I grew up coming to this base for a long time," Lucas Till, who plays MacGyver said.

Till lived on the base in Marietta before moving to LA to pursue an acting career. Now his dad joins him back on base, beaming with pride.

"We don't have enough time to tell you how proud I am," his father said.

The pilot episode brought smiles to the faces of the military members and their families but their support wasn't lost on the actors..

"On 9/11. That just means so much you know that everyone took time out of their day to come watch us," Tristin Mays said.

A behind the scenes look at what's bound to be a hit series, given to the men and women who deserve it the most.
