ATLANTA (CBS46) -

U.S. Senator Cory Booker stopped by Georgia Tech University Monday to speak to young voters.

“I was sent here to this college campus because we want to energize young people and let them know what’s at stake,” said Senator Booker.

Booker said the millennial generation holds the future of America in their hands. He said they have the power to impact politics and policy.

Several college students in the state, couldn’t agree more.

“It can really seem like we don't matter, but to know that we have that power, I really want to encourage my peers that can vote to go out and do it,” said Georgia State student Kirsten Wilder.

The notion is bi-partisan. Leo Smith with the Georgia Republican Party said 18 to 25-year-old voters can push either presidential candidate into the White House.

“If Hillary Clinton wins the millennial vote and that vote is somewhere about 40 percent of the electorate…if she wins that vote, she wins. If she doesn't win that vote, she loses,” said Smith.

The deadline to register to vote in Georgia is October 11.
