Candidates' forum: Michael Lee and Andrew Barnhill running for NC9 Senate seat

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

The District 9 seat in the North Carolina Senate includes all but one precinct in New Hanover County. Michael Lee is seeking re-election for a second full term in the office, having first been appointed in 2014 to serve out the remainder of Thom Goolsby’s term. Lee is a practicing attorney and owns a law firm in Wilmington. 

Lee’s challenger in 2016 is Andrew Barnhill. According to Barnhill’s website, he is a licensed minister and manages the endowment of his denomination. Barnhill has also recently completed classes toward a law degree.

    Candidates have started to file for run in 2018 elections.Candidates have started to file for run in 2018 elections.

    The filing period is underway for candidates wanting to run in 2018 General Elections across North Carolina.  Voters will be electing candidates in several offices, including county commissioners, school board members, district attorneys, sheriffs and members of the state house and senate.
