ATLANTA (CBS46) -

Thousands of people along the southern coast are finding refuge in metro Atlanta.

As they head to our state, dozens of families in the Orthodox Jewish community are making sure evacuees have a home away from home.

Rabbi Ilan Feldman and his wife are one of about 100 hosts.

“It’s fun and exciting to dot be able to say come on in, we don’t know who you are we’re going to spend the Sabbath together,” said Rabbi Feldman.

At least 100 hosts across metro Atlanta, are opening up their doors to other Orthodox Jews.

“These people would have no way to observe their Sabbath and observe their kosher diet properly so this gives us an opportunity to extend ourselves to people who have the same needs we do,” said Rabbi Feldman.

Families should arrive no Friday afternoon. Hosts said they can stay as long as they need to.
