A suspect is in custody after Gwinnett County Police said he sparked a SWAT situation when he called authorities on himself after robbing a gas station.

Police arrested Obafemi Temitope Jaji, 29, after he called police to report himself for a robbery at a convenience store/gas station in the area. When authorities arrived, Jaji refused to cooperate with police and demanded a negotiator.

After negotiating with the suspect over several hours, authorities breached the door to his apartment and saw that he had a firearm.

The incident took place inside a unit at the Eclipse Apartments complex on the 4100 block of Satellite Boulevard in unincorporated Duluth.

After nearly six hours, the suspect was led out of the unit in handcuffs.

He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries by members of the Gwinnett County Fire Department while at the scene and eventually transported to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville.

Jaji faces one count of robbery by intimidation and one count of theft by taking. Once he is released from the hospital, he will be transported to the Gwinnett County Jail.
