ATLANTA (CBS46) -

The Atlanta Braves announced on Twitter Thursday morning that they had come to an agreement with free agent pitcher R.A. Dickey.

Dickey, a knuckleballer, won the Cy Young Award in 2012 while pitching for the New York Mets before signing a lucrative free agent deal with the Toronto Blue Jays.

Dickey went 20-6 with a 2.73 earned run average in 2012 but did not pitch well for the Blue Jays.

In his 4-year career in Toronto, Dickey went 49-52 with a 4.05 earned run average. Overall, Dickey has a 110-108 record with a 4.01 ERA in 14 years.

The one-year, $8 million deal includes a club option for 2018.
