ATLANTA (CBS46) -

Nick Gordon learned what penalty he faces in the death of Bobbi Kristina Brown on Thursday.

Bobbi Kristina Brown's family sued Gordon for wrongful death of the daughter of Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston. In court Thursday, the judge ordered Gordon pay Brown's estate more than $36 million in penalties.

"[Gordon] has been on the Dr. Phil show, trying to capitalize on his involvement in this young woman's death," Judge T. Jackson Bedford said.

In September, the judge signed a court order saying Nick Gordon was responsible for Bobbi Kristina's January 2015 death. Gordon has been largely absent from the proceedings.

The breakdown is as follows:

  • Money from account, ring: $1,575,041
  • Hospital stay, medical care: $1,375,877
  • Pain and suffering: $13,800,000
  • Punitive damages for assault and battery: $4,200,000
  • Loss of Life: $15,056,000
  • Total: $36,256,918

Bobbi Kristina Brown, 22, was hospitalized after she was found face down in a bathtub on Saturday, January 31 by her boyfriend Nick Gordon, a man originally thought to be her husband, and another friend.
