Officials say eight students were taken to the hospital Friday after getting sick from candy that was allegedly altered in some way.
The incident occurred just after 3:30 p.m. on Friday at Austin Road Middle School in Stockbridge, which is southeast of Atlanta. All students have since been released from the hospital.
The students, identified as 6th, 7th and 8th graders, were taken to Piedmont Henry Hospital and are now in stable condition. All students have since been released from the hospital.
A spokesperson with Henry County Schools said officials are trying to figure out who brought the candy to school, adding that it has been taken for testing and as evidence.
The spokesperson added that since they're not sure how many students ate or took the candy, students who experience a fast heart rate and high blood pressure should be taken to the hospital right away.
