Police: Man arrested for shooting roommate; motive still unknown

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA (CBS46) -

A man is in stable condition after police say he was shot in the abdomen by his roommate in Lawrenceville.

The incident occurred November 21 in the 2000 block of Prospect Road.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found 35-year-old Justin Lopes suffering from a gunshot wound. Lopes was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville.

Police identified Christopher Joseph Kemp, 35, as the shooter. After weeks of searching, Kemp was finally arrested Sunday night after officials received an anonymous tip that he was on 1463 Bowman Road in Lawrenceville. Kemp was found inside a vehicle on the property. He was arrested and transported to Gwinnett County Jail on charges of aggravated assault, aggravated battery, 3 counts of controlled substance, loitering and theft by receiving along with  his initial charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. 

Kemp's motive to shooting his roommate is still unknown.
