STONE MOUNTAIN, GA (CBS46) -

Police say a total of eight people were arrested following a fight at a DeKalb County school that was only broken up after an officer used pepper spray.

The incident occurred just after 10 a.m. on Nov. 15 at Redan High School in Stone Mountain.

According to a police report, a female student and her brother went to the office to complain about being called a bad name and threatened by two brothers. While an assistant principal was talking with the two students about the incident, the young lady's mother and uncle walked into the office, according to the report.

The mom and uncle asked the assistant principle if he could call the parents of the two brothers to arrange a meeting to stop the alleged incident, which was done by the assistant principal, according to the report.

The exact details regarding the fighting were not completely clear due to names being redacted from the police report, but it was clear that once the accused brother's parents arrived at the school, the entire group were involved in a fight, according to the report.

A police officer noted that he had to use pepper spray and call for backup to control and eventually end the fight.

All eight people involved were arrested for affray and disrupting a public school, while a 32-year-old man and 16-year-old woman were also charged for having a gun on school property. The officer stated in the report that the gun remained in a purse during the fight.

Names were not listed in the report, however, of the eight arrested, four were adults and four were teenagers. The ages listed in the report were 15, 16, 17, 17, 24, 34, 42 and 43.
