ATLANTA (CBS46) -

Scammers are targeting businesses in a new telemarketing scheme. Georgia's Attorney General today issued an alert about the fraud.

Criminals are posing as Georgia Power representatives, threatening to shut off the business's power unless a payment is made immediately.

The scam artist provides a toll-free number to set up the payment, and when the customer calls, he hears a recording that sounds like one from Georgia Power.

But it's not.

As Better Call Harry learned, Georgia Power will not call customers and demand money.
